VCU RamStrong Well-being blog

Giving VCU employees the wellness resources they need to be healthy both on and off campus

As the weather cools this autumn, we may be getting outside more for a variety of activities from hiking to apple picking to pumpkin carving. As we’re out and about, take time to notice the leaves as they change colors and fall to make room for new leaves next spring. Consider picking one up and creating some calmness with a leaf breathing brain break (or use a picture of a leaf such as the one we’ve provided here). Here’s how:

  • Start at the base of the leaf and move left, slowly tracing the outside of the leaf with your finger.
  • Breathe in as you trace away from the stem to the next point on the leaf.
  • Breathe out as you trace back towards the stem to the following point.
