Ideas for positive mental health activities
Practice self-care with Aromatherapy – pleasant fragrances have the ability to reduce stress ad promote healthy sleep and relaxation. Try an aromatherapy bath or diffuser to boost your mood and promote relaxation.
Adult Coloring Books – An adult coloring book is great for refocusing your thoughts on something other than everyday life. It is relaxing and creates such a beautiful image as the result.
Practice yoga – It helps with emotional balance through concentrated breathing and teaches to live in the moment through meditative movement. Did you know VCU HR and Rec Sports offers a monthly yoga class. For July the class will be July 13th on vinyasa yoga with Casey. Sign up today!
Random Acts of Kindness – Doing something special and pleasant for others often improves how we feel about ourselves, boosts our morale, and gives us a sense of accomplishment. This helps to balance our thoughts and keep us feeling positive.
Exercise – Participate in exercises that challenge your endurance and really gets your heart pumping. In this process, you are releasing endorphins that produce that “feel good” emotion and essentially gives your mood a major boost.
