VCU RamStrong Well-being blog

Giving VCU employees the wellness resources they need to be healthy both on and off campus

A tiny pause is enough to stay connected to your practice.

Low motivation doesn’t need a bigger plan.

It needs a smaller door.

Try this right now.

One Minute Is Enough:

  1. Set a timer for 60 seconds
  2. Close your eyes (or soften your gaze)
  3. Breathe naturally and count your breaths
  4. When the timer sounds, you’re done

That’s it. One minute. Not five, not twenty. Just sixty seconds.

You might think, “But that’s too small to matter.”

Here’s why it matters: you’re not practicing meditation for one minute. You’re practicing returning for one minute. And that’s the skill that compounds over time.

Next time you feel resistance, you’ll remember: “I can do one minute.” And one minute keeps the pathway open. One minute prevents the full shutdown. One minute is proof you haven’t given up.

One minute today. That’s enough
