VCU RamStrong Well-being blog

Giving VCU employees the wellness resources they need to be healthy both on and off campus

Although it’s only the start of August, teachers are well aware that the new school year is right around the corner. However, transitioning from summer vacation back to the classroom is always somewhat of an abrupt change in routine. A heavy workload, early mornings, long days, and pressure from students and leadership can be a lot to handle.

This week Healthy Monday Refresh is sharing their DeStress Monday at School Program to help teachers (and anyone else) deal with the physical and emotional demands that accompany the start of the school year. After signing up for the program, participants are emailed a series of stress-management techniques every Monday to help them start the day, boost energy, calm the mind, improve focus, and connect with others. These techniques are easy to adopt and simple to execute, meaning they can be practiced both in the classroom and at home. This week, ease yourself into the academic year with some new ways to care for yourself.
