Giving VCU employees the wellness resources they need to be healthy both on and off campus

Feeling overwhelmed and want to find ways to reduce stress in your life? Have you been diagnosed with diabetes or high blood pressure and want to find out about healthy foods or information about ways to manage? The Community Health Education Center (CHEC) can help you find reliable, easy-to-understand health information on a variety of health and wellness topics. CHEC is located on the ground floor of the VCU Health Gateway Building and is a specialized library for patients, their family members, VCU staff, and the entire Richmond community focused on reliable health information. The library is staffed by a full-time health sciences librarian, a library assistant, and trained volunteers. Visitors can find a variety of health books, magazines, and videos. There is a quiet and relaxing reading area, a children’s area, and a video/computer room.

Each month the library offers free lunch-time health and wellness programs on a variety of health-related topics such as healthy eating, exercise, stress reduction, blood pressure, and many others. Every Wednesday and Friday at noon and 12:30 the library provides space for free guided stress relief meditation sessions.

Feel free to stop by or contact CHEC to learn more about the many available resources or contact CHEC staff, they can help you find health information for you or your family members. CHEC staff will gladly print out health information for you to take, email information, or even mail you information.
