For example, studies have found that stress can weaken the white blood cell response to diseased or infected cells. Other instances include feeling queasy before a big speech, getting shaky during a heated argument, or experiencing a rush of bliss after a workout. The better you understand the relationship between mind and body, the better you can control how you respond to different situations.

This 13-week series demonstrates how to use different physical and mental relaxation techniques to stay calm and in control. From self-massage to bed yoga to tai chi, these low-impact therapeutic movements can help address stress-related issues and bring you greater clarity and peace. This week, nurture your body to help satisfy your soul.
