Helping young children learn appropriate, polite and considerate behavior enables them to form good manners and become more socially attentive as they get older.

MANNERS SHOW RESPECT TO THOSE AROUND US

People are precious and the way in which we treat them matters! From a very young age, we need to instill this in our kid’s lives. We need to teach them that we show respect to others through the way in which we treat them. Remind your children that they must treat others the way they would like to be treated. It’s so much more than just a “please” or a “thank you”. Ultimately it’s about showing people respect and consideration. Manners are simply the tools through which we do this!

IT HELPS BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS

Understandably, people respond well to respect and consideration and most times will respond in kind. Having manners sets a strong foundation on which to build friendships and relationships. As parents, we want our kids to have strong social connections. And respect and consideration are the key building blocks of healthy relationships.

IT BUILDS CONFIDENCE

As your child treats those around them with respect and manners they will find others responding well to them. This in turn simply fuels and builds their confidence as they enjoy positive interactions with those around them. Ultimately it also builds strong social and communication skills within them too. On the surface, some parents may think manners are old-fashioned or unnecessary. But ultimately, this seemingly insignificant issue has a far deeper and lasting effect than some realize. It can affect the quality of the relationships your child builds and their social life.

It’s so worth the effort to teach your kids manners. Therefore, start today and help them become respectful, confident, considerate adults!
