Phishing Scams and Schemes Unveiled

The following is a variation of a fake job offer scam. If your a long time reader, you might recall the Banana Boat Magnet Scam, this is a very similar scam. The scammer will pay the victim some money but ask the victim send over some of that money to a 3rd party vendor. The check that was given is fraudulent and will bounce after the bank checks. The victim will have lost the money they earned and lost the money that they gave to the vendor.

Some signs that this is a scam are the unsolicited email and the unprofessional nature – the email is asking the victim to sign up on a survey site instead of an official site/interview.

Hi There,

I hope this finds you well. A firm is seeking people to become mystery shoppers in your area.

It entails going into stores as an under cover agent, to carry out an evaluation of the store and then report back.

You will be paid for each store you evaluate and you can do it as many times as possible.

It can be done part time or full time basis and it takes just about 15 minutes (from the time you enter the store) of your time.
