MySQL Downtime Thursday Night
The central university MySQL server will be shut down Thursday night from 8:45 – 9:30 pm in order to upgrade the network drive that it operates on. The MySQL outage will affect the following services:
- A-Z Index: The A-Z index will be unavailable during the downtime. The VCU combined search will continue to work, but will not include A-Z results.
- Blogs: Published blog entries will continue to be available, however any actions requiring the Movable Type backend will not (such as posting new or editing entries, posting comments, or otherwise editing blogs).
- FileDrop: FileDrop will be unavailable during the outage. Users will be unable to download files or send new files.
Any other departmental applications that rely on the central MySQL server hosted at the University Computer Center may also be affected. In addition, while the primary campus web server should be unaffected, personal websites hosted on www.people.vcu.edu will be unavailable during this maintenance window.
