Dear HR Colleagues:

We are pleased to share the announcements below.

VCU goes tobacco-free
The new Smoke and Tobacco-Free Campus policy went into effect on July 1, which states that tobacco is prohibited at VCU. This policy applies to all VCU employees, students, affiliates, contractors and visitors. These individuals are not permitted to smoke less than 25 feet away from VCU facilities. Visit tobaccofree.vcu.edu for policy details, tobacco cessation resources, a list of campus smoking areas and related information.

Leave calculator update
The VCU leave calculator now shows university employees a more detailed breakdown of their leave. If employees enter a hypothetical separation date, the calculator will show the total payable hours if the employee separates from the university on that date. It will also show the total hours to be used, if they wish to use the rest of their leave. If you have questions, contact leave@vcu.edu

ePAF update
VCU HR developed one new ePAF and modified an existing ePAF in an effort to streamline and improve efficiency. The new ePAF, Working Title Update ePAF, is used to update working titles. If a working title change is a result of actions that involve pay and position changes, please continue to use the current process. Additionally, a new field has been added to the Timesheet Org/Home Org Change ePAF, which will allow users to complete “home org” and “timesheet org” changes. If you have any questions, contact HRIS at hrsecurity@vcu.edu.

Tuition benefits moved to DocuSign
VCU recently released the updated Tuition Benefits, Educational and Training Opportunities policy. The tuition benefits form will now be completed in DocuSign. Aside from the name change, the policy also allows employees the possibility of taking one course during regular work hours. Questions? Contact learndev@vcu.edu.

As always, thank you for your support and partnership.

Sincerely,

Cathleen C. Burke
Assistant Vice President for Human Resources
Virginia Commonwealth University
