Dear colleagues,

As an institution of higher education, VCU demonstrates a commitment to the core value of lifelong learning by offering strategic education opportunities that foster employee career development.

To continue this effort, VCU Human Resources and VCU Staff Senate are partnering to present Quest for the Best Career Development Conference for employees to network with colleagues and explore valuable learning opportunities. Choose between two identical sessions, one from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. or another from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2020 in the University Student Commons. Lunch will be provided.

The conference offers a career communities expo, the Staff Senate Awards for Excellence, breakout sessions, and keynote speaker Rodney Robinson, 2019 National Teacher of the Year. Robinson teaches history at Virgie Binford Education Center, a Richmond Public School serving children in the juvenile detention system. Robinson will discuss the power of motivation, tenacity and having support in our careers. Breakout sessions will cover topics like service excellence, diversity and inclusion, health and wellness, integrity, student engagement, fostering collaborative environments, and leadership.

This event is part of Employee Appreciation Week sponsored by the VCU Staff Senate. Register for the conference at staffsenateconference.vcu.edu. For additional information, contact Beverly Walker at bwalker@vcu.edu. We look forward to this informative and inspiring event dedicated to employee career development at VCU. As always, thank you for your partnership and support.

Best wishes,
