Dear Leader:

The new Great Place: Working@VCU HR policy contains a formal dispute resolution process that includes a panel review and hearing for qualifying employee grievances. To support this new process, VCU Human Resources must identify, select and train a pool of University and Academic Professionals from each job family to serve as panel members. I write to request that you nominate up to 10 employees from your school/division to be prospective panel members. Attached is a list of employees from your area who are eligible to serve. While the employees you nominate may not all be selected, your nominations are critical to the process.

Panel members should:

  • Be diverse and broad in scope, and include employees at all levels
  • Be good university stewards and citizens
  • Be thoughtful and respectful of confidentiality

We anticipate the time commitment for panelists to be reasonable. Panelists will serve for a term of two to three years; a second consecutive term may be requested. VCU Human Resources and University Counsel will conduct mandatory training for each panel member. Please email your nominees, including names and titles for each nominee, by March 16, 2018 to VCU Human Resources Director of Employee Relations Ishneila Moore at imoore2@vcu.edu.

If you have questions about this request, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you for your continued partnership and collaboration.

All my best,
Cathleen C. Burke
