A weekly tip email from your neighborhood Instructional Technology and eHR team.

Tip #1 – ChatGPT is here to stay. It is affecting almost every industry, one of which is education and we highly suggest that you stay abreast of the AI conversation.

It may seem scary.

It may seem exciting.

Either way, if you are not caught up, here are a few resources to get you there.

Let’s start with an introduction. There’s no better than the AI itself. Here is it’s response to my prompt “tell me about yourself”:

Here is the official Wiki

Here is a good catch-up article (not written by AI…I think).

What is ChatGPT and why does it matter? Here’s what you need to know.

Here are two articles specifically about education + AI.

ChatGPT is going to change education, not destroy it.

Shifting Tides with AI in Higher Education

Lastly, here is a dentistry joke by ChatGPT. My prompt was, “Tell me a dentistry joke.”

Why did the king go to the dentist?
Because he wanted to get his crown replaced!

Tip #2 – We don’t have a Calendly account for everyone, but with Google Calendar’s “Appointment slots” feature, you can essentially do the same thing other booking platforms do. “Appointment slots” allows you to set…well, appointment slots on your Google Calendar. From there, you can send a scheduling link allowing your clients, students, or colleagues to reserve a slot. You can set these to repeat to line up with something like office hours. Click in your Calendar as if you were scheduling a regular event. From there, toggle to the “Appointment slots” option and start playing! If you’d like a more detailed walkthrough, contact IT.
