TechTuesday

A weekly tip email from your neighborhood Instructional Technology and eHR team.

Tip #1 – “It’s easy to break things. Much, much easier, it seems, than building them.” -Steven Weber

Unfortunately, things break. Phones, cars, light bulbs, software, toys…classrooms. Yes, as much as we try to ensure continually operability, even our classrooms can fail us at times. In such an event, the solution may be easy or there may be a classroom open to which you can move, but first, remember to:

No, really. We need to know. We need to know for multiple reasons, so remember this number – 828-9352. From any VCU phone, you can just dial 8-9352. This will ring our Instructional Technology/EHR line. We will help troubleshoot any tech issues and ultimately, if needed, help you migrate to a new room. It is imperative that we know if you go to another room. Echo360 records are connected to specific rooms. If you go to any room other than the originally scheduled one, we need to change the recording for that class. Additionally, the classroom kits are room-specific as well, so the wireless mics cannot be used in rooms other than the one they are synced to.

Tip #2 – Last week, we talked about the benefits of using Google Chat, an instant message platform available to us all within VCU gmail. Google Chat has a Spaces feature that lets you set up permanent chat spaces. This is a great way to host team communications. This guide will help you get started with using Spaces.
