VCU Libraries enters a partnership with PLOS to cover publishing costs
VCU Libraries has just entered a partnership with PLOS, a non-profit Open Access publisher. All PLOS journals are Open Access, Plan S compliant, (initiative for full and immediate Open Access publishing supported by cOAlition S funders), and Open Data compliant. Articles are peer-reviewed. Under this new, non-APC based business model, institutions pay an annual fee which enables publishing in all twelve PLOS journals without paying APCs.
Beginning in January, 2022 VCU authors will be able to publish in any of the PLOS journals without paying any APC.
PLOS journals are:
1. PLOS Biology
2. PLOS Climate
3. PLOS Computational Biology
4. PLOS Digital Health
5. PLOS Genetics
6. PLOS Global Public Health
7. PLOS Medicine
8. PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases9. PLOS ONE
10. PLOS Pathogens
11. PLOS Sustainability and Transportation
12. PLOS Water
All the journals welcome preprints. Open Code is optional except in the case of PLOS Computational Biology.
Apart from the journals, PLOS has several collections which help in discovering topics and keep researchers up to date with the latest research. PLOS collections are always fully Open Access so that one can discover, share and reuse materials without restrictions.
