Dear HR colleagues, please see the critical year-end reminders below and share with faculty and staff in your area.

Benefits elections during the VCU winter closing

VCU HR recommends that eligible employees submit benefits elections no later than Thursday, Dec. 19 if their election deadlines fall during the winter closing. Elections received after Dec. 16 will be processed after VCU reopens on Jan. 6, 2020. For employees who plan to submit elections during the winter closing, submissions will be honored only if received by date-stamped fax to ImageNow at (804) 827-8250 or email to hrdocs@vcu.edu. Please do not submit elections through VCU campus mail during the winter closing. If you have questions, contact VCU Benefits Administration at (804) 827-1723 or benefits@vcu.edu.

eJobs update

Beginning January 1, 2020, eJobs will no longer be supported on Internet Explorer. The vendor has notified VCU HR that any eJobs glitches experienced in Internet Explorer will not be addressed or resolved. We recommend everyone use another browser such as Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Firefox to access and work in eJobs. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact hrsecurity@vcu.edu.

Performance management and career development planning

We’re pleased to share the redesigned Talent@VCU website with user-friendly, easy to use navigation. We encourage all employees to begin thinking about the upcoming performance review process and the conversations you will have with your employees and managers. As a reminder, performance reviews must be completed by March 2020.

Employee career development plans are due January 31, 2019. To prepare employees and their managers to have meaningful conversations about career development, please review the career development e-learning module in Talent@VCU. The Learning, Development, and Organizational Culture team is also offering in-person training sessions for career development conversations between employees and managers. Enroll in these sessions by visiting go.vcu.edu/talentatvcu, hover over the “learning” tab, select “learning search,” then search “career conversations.” For more information, visit the performance management section on Inside HR.

Thank you for your continuous support of VCU HR as we work together to achieve the VCU mission.

All my best, Cathleen C. Burke Assistant Vice President for Human Resources Virginia Commonwealth University
