Dear Colleagues:

Your career development is an important part of the new Working@VCU: Great Place HR policies. Planning your career development activities at the beginning of the year and tracking those activities supports your professional growth. University and Academic Professionals and Classified staff are expected to participate in at least one activity each year and track their progress using Talent@VCU. Please complete your career development plan and discuss your ideas with your manager by February 28. To access your career development plan, log into Talent@VCU, click “My Profile” under the “Home” tab and then click “Career Development.”

Career development training

I invite you to learn more about career development at VCU by completing online training in Talent@VCU. To access training, log into Talent@VCU and click “browse for training” under the “learning” tab. This module takes only 20 minutes and covers the university policy and guidelines for your career development.

Career communities

Classified staff and University and Academic Professionals are also invited to join career communities. These are groups of fellow VCU employees that meet regularly to grow their professional network in a particular job family. VCU currently hosts four career communities: Human Resources, Student Services, Career Development Collaborative and Leadership. New career communities are coming soon for Information Technology, Legal and Compliance, Communications, Finance, Research and more. All job families at VCU will have a career community established by the end of 2020.

Tuition waiver

One of the greatest benefits at VCU is access to education. Eligible employees should consider using the tuition waiver benefits to take a class or finish a degree. Please review the recently updated tuition waiver form.
