Dear Colleagues:

November marks the beginning of the annual performance review process for Classified employees and University and Academic Professionals. The new performance cycle runs November 1 through October 31 each year and can be completed in Talent@VCU, VCU’s new performance management system.

  • Starting November 1, employees update progress on their 2017-18 goals and complete a self-review.

  • Managers and employees then work together to complete the full performance review by the end of December. The reviews completed by managers and employees should be a reflection of the ongoing feedback and coaching that occurred throughout the performance cycle.

  • As employees and managers complete the 2017-18 annual review, they also set performance goals and career development plans for the new 2018-19 performance cycle.

T&R Faculty performance reviews are conducted separately from this process. If you are a T&R Faculty member, you are receiving this email because you supervise Classified employees or University and Academic Professionals.

This annual performance timeline aligns with the anticipated approval of VCU’s Strategic Plan, Quest 2025: Together We Transform. Employees align with school/unit goals that cascade directly from Quest, showing how each employee’s goals contribute directly to the strategic priorities of the university. Newly updated resources, including a timeline for the performance management process, are available on the HR intranet to guide you through this process. Your HR Professional is also available to answer questions.

Thank you for your support of this important process and for all you do to make VCU a great place to work.

All my best,

Cathleen C. Burke
