Dear Colleagues:

As an institution of higher education, VCU demonstrates a commitment to the core value of lifelong learning by offering strategic education opportunities that foster employee career development. The Great Place: HR Redesign revolutionized career development possibilities at VCU, which allowed the university to better support employee growth and advancement.

To continue this effort, VCU Human Resources and VCU Staff Senate are partnering to present Best Together: Transforming Our Careers, a career development conference for employees to network with colleagues and explore valuable learning opportunities. Choose between two identical sessions, one from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. or another from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018.

The conference will offer a career development expo and breakout sessions. Topics include service excellence, diversity and inclusion, health and wellness, integrity, fostering collaborative environments, as well as leading your career, leading yourself and leading others.

Esteemed keynote speaker Mary Foley, known for her insights, candidness and humor, will discuss “Thriving on Change as We Transform Our Careers.” With more than 20 years of experience in leadership and corporate training, Foley offers hard-earned practical advice for navigating change and creating success. She is an author, speaker, business coach and host of the P.O.W.E.R. Plug Podcast for Women in Business.

This conference is a chance for the university community to experience one of the many opportunities delivered by the Great Place: HR Redesign. It will be held on the Monroe Park Campus in the University Student Commons. Lunch will be provided. To register for this event, visit www.staffsenateconference.vcu.edu. For additional information, contact Beverly Walker at bwalker@vcu.edu.
