Dear Colleagues:

This is an exciting time for VCU. The Working@VCU: Great Place HR plan rewards growth and learning, aligns our everyday work with the strategic mission of the university, and preserves what we appreciate most about state employment.

For most A&P faculty members, the new HR plan becomes effective on July 1, 2018. There is no action required on your part. Employees currently holding A&P faculty appointments without academic responsibilities will become University and Academic Professionals. Current A&P faculty with academic responsibilities will move into one of three employee groups:

1. Academic professional, within the University and Academic Professional employee group; may also be accompanied by an affiliate or adjunct faculty appointment
2. Term (non-tenure track) teaching and research (T&R) faculty
3. Academic administrator with a T&R faculty appointment
For specific information about how the new HR plan impacts you, please log in to my.vcu.edu and select HR Redesign under Resources. There you can learn more about where your job fits within the new university job family structure, as well as access a side-by-side comparison of the classified HR plan and the new HR plan.

Job families are groups of jobs related by similar work that represent a career path from entry-level jobs to senior executives. Your job assignment is based on your current job duties. Your current working title will not change as a result of moving into the new employee group.

For additional details about the new policy, talk with your manager or the HR professional in your school or department, or attend one of the information events scheduled through the end of March. Visit greatplace.vcu.edu for more information and details about upcoming events.
We are delighted to have you on this journey of making VCU an even greater place to work.

All my best,
Cathleen C. Burke
Assistant Vice President for Human Resources
