Dear Colleagues:

VCU’s Great Place: HR Redesign policies are designed to reward growth and learning, align our everyday work with the strategic mission of the university, modernize how we recruit and retain talented employees, and preserve what we appreciate most about state employment. As a classified employee, you can choose to either enroll in the new HR plan or remain classified. This email describes the resources that will be available to assist you in making an informed decision.

In January, you will receive an email and letter at your home address directing you to details of VCU’s new HR plan. Starting January 1, 2018, you can find information specific to you regarding your placement in the new job family structure in the myVCU portal. You will also have access to a side-by-side comparison of the current HR plan alongside the new HR plan, so you can be clear on what is staying the same, what is changing for everyone, and what could change for you if you choose to enroll. Please check your current contact information in eServices/VCU Self-Service to ensure both your home mailing address and campus box address are up-to-date and be on the lookout for more communications in January.

Enrollment for the Great Place: HR Redesign begins January 1, 2018 and runs through March 31, 2018. Informational events, including a Great Place Expo and one-on-one sessions, are scheduled during this time so you can learn more. Should you choose to enroll, the new HR plan becomes effective for you on July 1, 2018. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please visit greatplace.vcu.edu or talk with the HR professional in your school or department. We are excited to have you on this journey of making VCU an even greater place to do meaningful work and have a thriving career.

All my best,
Cathleen C. Burke
