Tech Tuesday – February 20: Changes in DUO 2-factor-authentication and Caring for Classroom Technology
TechTuesday
A weekly tip email from your neighborhood Instructional Technology and eHR team.
Tip #1 – At VCU, we utilize DUO 2-factor-authentication to confirm identity when signing into VCU platforms offsite. Historically, in this process a user signing into a VCU platform would get prompted on their personal device via the DUO app. A few minor changes are coming to this process. More details with screenshots are coming here.
To summarize, the process will essentially reverse. When signing into a VCU application offsite, you will see a number displayed that then gets entered into your DUO app.
Tip #2 – Our classrooms are used alot! And, we want them to be used alot! We are seeing increased incidents of classrooms being left up and running after use. Lights are left on, projector on, Crestron and podium up and running, classroom kits unreturned, and materials left on the podiums. This can have some negative effects, like on our projectors which need bulbs replaced more frequently if left on all the time (they ain’t cheap). So, please be kind; shut it all down at the end of your time (not my best…sorry).
