Tech Tuesday – October 15: Guest Lecturer Technology Guide and Leaving Your Device On
TechTuesday
A weekly tip email from your neighborhood Instructional Technology and eHR team.
Tip #1 – We frequently host guest lecturers in our school and want to ensure they have a great experience. As mentioned in earlier Tech Tuesdays, when it comes to technology, plan ahead. It would be easier to plan ahead if you had a comprehensive guest lecturer guide to help in these moments, right? Stephanie Foreman has created just that (thanks, Steph). This guide describes how to get network access for your guests, lists the capabilities of each room, and even suggests questions to ask your guests before they arrive. It can be accessed on Dentranet, but is also linked here.

Tip #2 – We have a lot of computers in the building. Like, a loooooot. Managing them can be cumbersome, but because of some really smart people using really smart software, we can usually do it without actually touching each workstation. That is true only if the machine is on. Please help IT out and leave your computers on, even on the weekends. When you are done for the day, you can just sign out or restart it, but leaving it on allows for easier managing, like allowing necessary updates to propagate. Thanks in advance!
