A weekly tip email from your neighborhood Instructional Technology and eHR team.

As we enjoy the next few days off, we hope you all find time to unplug and just be present with your family.

Tip #1 – This is more of a challenge than a tip.

During your Thanksgiving meal, turn your phone off, put it on silent, or put it somewhere far away from the meal table, and go the entire meal without checking it.

survey conducted by the FoodNotPhones initiative (n=1163 adults) found that 68% of households during mealtime have at least 1 person on a cellphone, while 65% said they do not like phones being used at mealtime. This study found correlation between using a phone at mealtimes and less happiness and enjoyment. So, try your own little study. Prep the table, lay out all of that delicious food, snap a pic (you need something for Instagram right?) and then ditch the phone for a bit so you can focus on the real-world interactions with your loved ones.

Happy Thanksgiving!
