VCU Libraries reports strong fundraising year
VCU Libraries closed FY26 at $1,219,651 raised in gifts and pledges. A total of 327 gifts were made by 126 alumni, 188 friends, nine foundations and four corporations.
- Planned gifts accounted for $331,000, 27% of gifts made.
- Pledges were $673,000 or 55% of giving.
- Cash gifts were $142,000 or 12% of giving.
- Appraised Gifts in Kind were $72,000 or 6% of giving.
“We are grateful to each and every one of our generous donors,” said Teresa L. Knott, interim dean and university librarian. “In addition to some significant new areas of support, gifts were given to three major initiatives that are integral to the VCU Libraries mission of service to the university community.”
Gifts supported scholarships (the Friends of VCU Libraries Scholarship, newly created scholarships and other student support funds), the Affordable Course Content Initiative and the expansion of Special Collections and Archives at the Cabell Library and more.
The $1.2 million fundraising for the fiscal year marked one of the best philanthropic years for VCU Libraries. “Our highest achieving year was in 2017 when we were matching a significant challenge grant and raising funds for the expansion of Cabell Library,” said Development Director Kelly Gotschalk.
