Newest features and changes

Check out our latest blog posts regarding the newest features released during the Fall 2021 semester:

Google Assignments

As a reminder, Google Assignments and Google Drive LTI 1.3 is now available on Canvas! Google Assignments makes it easy to create and distribute personalized Google Drive templates and worksheets to students, spot missed citations and possible plagiarism with originality reports, and save time grading while providing rich feedback all through the collaborative power of Google Workspace for Education.

More information about Google Assignments can be found here: https://collaborate.vcu.edu/apps/assignments/. Our Getting to Know Google Assignments training course is also posted regularly and can be found here: go.vcu.edu/gogoogle.

Google Meet & Chat

Google Meet and Google Chat make it easy to collaborate with colleagues using their VCU Google Workspace account. Google Meet enables you to quickly start a meeting with your co-workers, students, and classmates for brainstorming and collaborative sessions while Google Chat makes it simple to create an online chatroom that leverages integrations with Gmail, Google Drive, and other Google Workspace apps in 1:1 Chats, Group Chats, and Spaces.

Google Meet now supports up to 500 participants in a single meeting and has added controls for disabling participant video and audio, making it especially useful for large classes or webinars, as well as co-host functionality to enable the speaker to stay focused while co-hosts manage the host settings and activities options. Activities in Google Meet enables you to further engage with participants through launching a Poll, Q/A section, breakout rooms, Jamboard (whiteboard) sessions, and recording a Meet for viewing later.
