Collaboration Services Welcomes the Fall 2021 Semester!
The Collaboration Services team is happy to welcome or welcome back all students, faculty, and staff to the Fall 2021 semester. Below we’ve rounded up the most important news and what you need to know as we jump into the new semester.
Our Google domains have merged
All students are now part of the vcu.edu domain. Previously, students and faculty/staff were managed in separate Google domains, mymail.vcu.edu and vcu.edu, which acted as a barrier of difficulty and confusion for communication and collaboration. Now, students, faculty, and staff reside in the vcu.edu Google domain, which alleviates these issues and has greatly improved collaboration. Google Assignments in Canvas
Google Assignments is now available in Canvas and offers an array of tools to quickly distribute assignments in Google Drive, generate originality reports in assignments to check for plagiarism, and quickly assign grades and provide rich feedback all in one place. New blog and newest features/changes
Our team has created a new blog where we’re announcing what we’re up to, relevant news and updates for your VCU Google Workspace account, important updates, and news for other services we support. You can also subscribe to our blog to receive notifications about new blog posts by clicking the “Follow” button located on the right side of the screen at https://blogs.vcu.edu/drgee/ and even customize which tags you’re notified for after you’ve subscribed.

Google Feature Updates: Google has been hard at work adding new features and enhancements to the existing tools in the Google Workspace for Education suite of tools to make collaborating even better. We’ve provided and will continue to provide round-ups for these features, which can be found here: https://blogs.vcu.edu/drgee/category/google-workspace/google-feature-updates/.
General and Team News: General blog posts or news, including news that doesn’t fall under the other categories, and team-specific news will be located in this category.
Project Updates: When our team is working on projects that may have an impact on the VCU community, announcements will fall under this category.
Important Changes: In addition to sending direct notifications to affected individuals as needed, announcements regarding significant impactful changes will be located here.
Smartsheet, Listserv, and Listplex Maestro: Specific announcements to any of these services will be included in their respective categories.
