15 third floor computers powerless…for the moment

As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, at least 15 public computers on the third floor of Cabell Library are without power. This is a construction-related problem, we believe. Power will be restored as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

All public computers on fourth floor offline today

Due to construction activity, all public computers on the fourth floor are offline today, Tuesday. Noise levels this week will be high during the 6 to 9 a.m. time period.

Special Collections and Archives moving materials while the department is closed until Jan. 20

Special Collections and Archives, fourth floor, Cabell is closed until Jan. 20 due to construction-related work. The update: Our books, serials, journals, and oversized published works are almost completely moved. The book art collection is moved. University archives is in progress. Manuscripts are almost moved. More moving is ahead.  

[Bathroom Renovation] First floor restrooms closing in December

Look for changes in restroom availability due to construction. Also expect increased noise inside Cabell Library as construction progresses. First floor restrooms will close as early as Dec. 12 (after exams) for renovation. Patrons will be encouraged to use facilities on the Lower Level.  The first floor restrooms will be closed until after Spring Break.

Special Collections and Archives closed Dec. 8-Jan. 9

Due to a construction-related move of materials in the collection, Cabell Library’s Special Collections and Archives department on the fourth floor will be closed Dec. 8-Jan. 9. Mapp Room closing Dec. 17 until further notice

Cabell’s fourth floor Mapp Room, which is the space now reserved for graduate students only, will close immediately after exams are given and will remain closed until further notice, perhaps as long as throughout the spring semester. Friday, Oct. 10: Be prepared for sonar scanning near you

On Friday, Oct. 10, W. M. Jordan, the contractor building the new library, will have a technician on site to scan 30 specific floor spots to locate the reinforcing rebar. Cabell closed Saturday, July 19

Due to planned electrical work, James Branch Cabell Library will be closed July 19. Closures are also planned for Saturday July 26 and Saturday, Aug. 16.
