On Friday, Oct. 10, W. M. Jordan, the contractor building the new library, will have a technician on site to scan 30 specific floor spots to locate the reinforcing rebar. This is to prepare for core drills that will be done over winter break in order to install a lightening protection system for Cabell Library.  The scans are done with a hand-held device that uses sonar technology. Noise should be minimal. But to do the scan, carpet tiles have to be pulled up and replaced. Each scan takes about 15 minutes. The technician will be working on all floors, in and around study spaces. We apologize for any inconvenience.
