Technology Services

The VCU Technology Services Blog

During the first day of the 2010 Tech Fair we stopped by for a visit with Sean O’Keefe and John Gayle of the VCU Computer Center.  At the most basic level, the computer center provides server support, network drive storage, and system backup services among many others for VCU departments and offices. If you have server under you desk right now, call them. You will not be sorry.

You may be asking yourself, “Okay, computer center, got that. What the heck is a NOC?” The Network Operations Center monitors VCU system/network status and computer center environmental conditions on a 24/7 basis, 365 days a year. If something is happening on our network or with a server, it is likely they know about it and are moving to marshal the resources to respond.
