Many changes are in the works this week, with construction and closings scheduled after exams and as winter break is beginning to minimize inconveniences to students and researchers.

  • The Mapp Room, for graduate study, is now closed. It will be converted into a temporary reading room and service area for the adjacent Special Collections and Archives department. Graduate students are encouraged to use the fourth and third floors quiet-study areas as well as reserve group study rooms.
  • Special Collections and Archives is closed until Jan. 20, 2015. Staff members are moving the collection to new stacks (see the image below) and are shifting office spaces and setting up the temp reading room.
  • On the first floor, renovations to the restrooms will begin this week. Use restrooms on the lower level or other floors.

As construction activity increasingly moves inside Cabell Library, expect higher noise levels. Free earplugs are available at the Information Services Desk.
