Cabell Terrace named
Guests gathered on the evening of Friday, Sept. 26 at James Branch Cabell Library for a celebratory evening as the VCU Libraries honored Walter Dotts and his decades of volunteer leadership. Dotts served as president of both the James Branch Cabell Library Associates and the Friends of VCU Libraries Board over his many years of involvement with and service to VCU Libraries.
In gratitude for his service, the Cabell Associates have named the third-floor terrace next to the lecture hall The Walter M. Dotts III Terrace. Dotts’ vision for expanding the name and legacy of James Branch Cabell was a major impetus in the development and growth of the James Branch Cabell First Novelist Award, started in 2002 and now a premier literary prize that is awarded annually.
