Previously we announced that two major features that would allow you to set your working location in Google Calendar and automatically save your progress made in a Google Form would be coming soon. We’re happy to announce these features are now rolling out to everyone and should be available to all VCU Students, Faculty, and Staff.

Share where you’re working from in Google Calendar

In Google Calendar, you can now share your working location so that others who can see at least free/busy on your calendar will be able to see your working location. When visiting Google Calendar, an onboarding pop-up will appear. You will be able to select between working in the office every day, working from home every day, or you can choose “Multiple locations” to configure where you work from for each day:

You can modify your working location schedule in your Google Calendar settings at any time:

You will also be able to modify individual days directly from your Calendar to change if where you’ll be working if something changes:

When inviting someone to an event that has their working location set and at least free/busy permissions on their calendar, you’ll be able to see their working location to know if that day and location is suitable for having the meeting:

You will also be able to see other’s working locations if you have their calendars added to your list of calendars and their privacy settings have allowed others to see it:

In combination with specifying if you’ll be attending a meeting in a meeting room or virtually, we believe this will be a great way to stay connected with your team and improve coordination of events with a variety of working locations in a team.

This feature is now available for everyone. If you’re not seeing this feature and already have Google Calendar open, try refreshing your Calendar tab!

Your progress is automatically saved as you respond to forms and quizzes

In Google Forms, your progress is now saved for 30 days after your last edit in a Form or until you submit the form. This is also available with quizzes.

This feature helps to ensure you won’t have to start a Form over if:

  • You can’t complete a form or quiz in one sitting,
  • You have to switch between multiple devices,
  • You have low internet connectivity.

It is recommended to disable this form in certain situations, such as forms used for repeated data entry, embedded websites, and public-facing shared devices such as a kiosk or registration. Form owners and editors can disable auto-saving by going under Settings > Presentation > Restrictions and selecting “Disable autosave for all respondents.”
