Dear VCU Community,

I am pleased to announce that I am appointing Kathleen Rudasill, Ph.D., as the interim senior vice provost for faculty affairs, effective May 20, 2025. Dr. Rudasill brings a wealth of experience and an impressive record of leadership to this role, and I am confident that she will foster excellence and collaboration across VCU.

Dr. Rudasill has served as a dedicated faculty member and leader in the VCU School of Education since 2018. Her tenure includes roles as interim dean and senior associate dean, where she demonstrated visionary leadership, fiscal responsibility, and a steadfast commitment to VCU’s core values. Her efforts to build a culture of trust, open communication, and mutual respect have been recognized and celebrated by her colleagues, as evidenced by the resolution passed by the School of Education Faculty Organization earlier this year in celebration of her service as interim dean.

In addition to her leadership roles, Dr. Rudasill has an impressive academic background. She holds a Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Virginia, has authored over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles, and served as PI, Co-PI, or Co-I on external grants totaling over $5.5M. Her research has significantly contributed to the fields of educational psychology and child development. Furthermore, she has presented her work at more than 70 national and international conferences, showcasing her commitment to advancing knowledge and practice in education.

Dr. Rudasill’s extensive editorial experience, including her roles as associate editor for the Journal of School Psychology and editor for Gifted Children, further highlights her dedication to academic excellence and her ability to support and mentor faculty members. Her service on various national and international panels and committees demonstrates her broad influence and commitment to the broader academic community.

As interim senior vice provost for faculty affairs, Dr. Rudasill will work closely with faculty members across the university to ensure their voices are heard and integral to decision-making processes. Her experience and dedication to fostering professional growth and collaboration will undoubtedly have a lasting positive impact on our community.
