Researchers working at Cabell Library over spring break should expect some construction activity. W. M. Jordan will take advantage of spring break to do some work that otherwise would be too disruptive. Here is a summary of what to expect:

  • Fifteen minutes power shut down on March 9 starting at 5 a.m. of panel that feeds ALL wall receptacles in Cabell Library in order to tie in a new feed.
  • Room B30 (Technology Services) will experience a rerouting of power that feeds eight wall receptacles in this room.  Power to those receptacles will be shut off for one hour starting at 9 a. m. on March 9. This will affect the HelpIT service desk.
  • Also on March 9, an existing Variable Air Volume Box (part of the air conditioning system) box in Special Collections and Archives will be removed and duct work will be tied in. This work will start at 8 a.m. and take eight hours.
  • On Thursday, March 12, the Variable Air Volume box (part of the air conditioning system) in the Mapp Room will be replaced.
  • Also on Thursday, the hot water that supplies the fourth floor HVAC system will have to be drained, which means there won’t be good temperature control on the fourth floor. It is likely to be a bit chilly.  The work will take four hours to complete.
