When James Branch Cabell Library users return after winter break, they will find changes tied to the new library construction. Work is scheduled to ready the east side of the Third Floor for construction of office space. Most of the student workspaces in the southeast corner of the floor (near the Third Floor Conference Room) will be moved to to make room for construction and staging. In addition, equipment stations will shift into a tighter configuration closer to the service desk.

Some lesser-used materials now housed on the Third Floor (scores, sheet music, albums, etc.) will be moving in early 2014. Some items will be put in storage; others will be shelved in new places.

This restaging is all short-term. A significant addition to the new library on Monroe Park Campus will be a state-of-the-art Innovative Media space on the ground floor of Cabell Library.

Liaison librarians and Innovative Media managers will be informing their colleagues on campus about these changes. Notices are being posted on the floor to alert users. Temporary signage and posters will inform users.
