During Art Review, a Fall 2021, five week Honor College module course, students visited prominent Richmond art sites, like the VMFA, the ICA, Kehinde Wiley’s Rumors of War statue, and Monument Avenue. Learning Photoshop basics, and the basic principles and elements of art and design, students incorporated photo documentation with Photoshop tools to create a series of gifs. These gifs reflect not only students’ exploration of the software, but are personal records and responses to the artwork, research, and concepts investigated throughout the course. The result is a diverse collection of gifs that range from humorous, to formal, to calls for social activism.

Gifs are by students in Assoicate Professor Elissa Armstrong’s Art Review Honors Module course, HONR 399, Fall 2021.
