Students learn design basics while exploring local sites
Cabell Screen is featuring the art of students from Elissa Armstrong’s Art Review Honors Course.
During Art Review, a Fall 2020, five week Honor College module course, HONR 399-701, Fall 2020 , students visited prominent Richmond art sites, like the VMFA, the ICA, Kehinde Wiley’s Rumors of War statue, and Robert E. Lee’s monument, recently identified by the New York Times as the most influential protest art in the United States.
Students incorporated photo documentation with Photoshop basics to create a series of gifs. These gifs reflect not only students’ exploration of the software, but are personal records and responses to the artwork, research, and concepts investigated throughout the course.
