Showing on the Cabell Screen throughout summer 2019 are selected works from Emanata, the student-run comic arts review.
Started in 2014 with its first anthology, Weird, Vol. 1, Emanata is a student-run publication dedicated to providing avenues for comic creators to publish their work. The staff of Emanata works with contributors to amplify their skills through a personal one-on-one editorial process. Through the Student Media Center, they publish an annual anthology in both print and digital format, giving students a taste of the publishing process.
This year, Emanata will be distributing their newest edition, VIRAL, locally on VCU campus and in conferences and participating stores in the Richmond area. This year’s release event was April 18. This year’s cover features the beautiful artwork of Shannon Wright, a prominent Richmond artist and alumni of VCUarts. Emanata will also have a table at the annual Small Press Expo in Bethesda, Maryland.
