Important update: Implementation of License Plate Recognition testing at VCU parking facilities
We are pleased to inform you that we have initiated License Plate Recognition (LPR) testing at several parking facilities across campus. As each deck successfully completes testing and transitions to full-time operation, we will notify you in advance of this change. Please note that during the testing phase, you may experience occasional, unannounced tests; however, our staff will be present onsite to oversee traffic flow.
To ensure seamless access to your designated parking facility, we ask that you take a moment to review and update your license plate information via your online parking portal. In instances where the RFID system for hangtag recognition is temporarily disabled, having updated license plate information will ensure you can access your facility. Should you encounter any difficulties entering or exiting the parking facility, your VCU ID card can still be used as an alternative.
Verifying your license plate(s):
1. Log in to the parking portal by clicking “LOGIN” in the top right corner.
2. Navigate to “View Your Permits” under “Permits.”
3. Select your permit and scroll down to the “Associated Vehicles” section to view the license plates associated with your permit.
4. If you need to add a new vehicle, use the “Add Vehicles to Permit” button at the bottom. Employees may add up to three vehicles, and students may add two.
Note: Add a new vehicle before deleting an existing one if only one vehicle is currently linked. If you need to delete a vehicle from your account, please email us at [email protected].
You can watch a video tutorial of the process at parking.vcu.edu/parking/lpr/.
In the event that your parking facility is affected by LPR testing, we sincerely appreciate your cooperation in respecting and adhering to any guidance provided by VCU Parking and Transportation staff members, who are working diligently to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.
Your cooperation and patience during this phase of implementing LPR technology at VCU are greatly appreciated. For any questions or feedback regarding LPR, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].
