October 30 – Eighth Street Deck Stairwell Repair Project, Oct. 30- Nov. 17

Crews will be performing minor repair work on the southeast stairwell (closest to Larrick) through Friday, November 17.  During this project, the southeast stairwell will be closed to customer traffic.

The stairwell located in the northeast corner of the deck, as well as both elevators, will remain open while this repair work takes place.


October 30 – WCSD Lane Testing Takes Place November 1-5

n efforts to improve the ingress and egress experience for subscribers, we will perform lane testing at the entry/exit lanes of the West Cary Street Deck from Wednesday, November 1 through Sunday, November 5.

During this testing, staff will monitor the  length of time the Radio Frequency Identification module takes to identify decals and raise the gate.  A portion of chain link fence will be temporarily placed between the entry lane and middle reversing lane.

Please note, your ingress to and egress from the deck will not be impacted during this time.


October 27 – UPDATE – Upcoming RamRide Impacts (RamRide now servicing Sanger Hall)

The utilities project on 11th Street between Broad and E. Marshall Streets is now completed, and RamRide will begin to service Sanger Hall for A Lot, M Lot and R Lot routes, beginning at 3 pm today.
The temporary bus stop on Clay St. will also continue to be serviced until 8 pm for A Lot subscribers, and until 12 am for M Lot and R Lot subscribers.
The A Lot buses will turn right onto 10th St. from Clay St. and will continue along the normal route. M Lot and R Lot buses will turn left onto 10th St. from Clay St. and follow the normal route back to the M and R Lots.
The 14th & Bank St. stop will be serviced beginning at 3 pm as well.

October 26 – Parking and Transportation Open Forums

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to participate in our upcoming Parking and Transportation open forums, to be held on the Monroe Park and MCV campuses in the coming weeks.  During these forums, senior leaders will present information regarding new parking and transportation initiatives, improvements and more.  Additionally, as with our past forums, following the presentation, we will open the floor for questions.

Our first forum will be held on the MCV Campus on Thursday, November 2, from 12 pm to 1 pm, at the Kontos Medical Sciences Building Auditorium.  The Monroe Park Campus forum will take place on Tuesday, November 7, from 11 am to 12 pm, at Cabell Library, Room 303.

In the event you cannot attend the forums, livestream will be available at https://apps.parking.vcu.edu/livestream.asp. The presentation, as well as a transcript of the questions and answers from each forum will be posted on our website, here: http://www.parking.vcu.edu/news-and-alerts/forums.

Please note, the Monroe Park Campus parking office, located at 1108-A West Broad Street, will temporarily close from 11 am to 2 pm on Thursday, November 2 and 10 am to 1 pm on Tuesday, November 7.  The MCV Campus parking office, located at 659 N. 8th Street, will remain open on these dates.

October 26 – Area Concrete Project May Impact RR Lot Accessibility on Oct. 30

On Monday, October 30, a contractor will be pouring concrete in areas around the Raleigh Building, which may impact accessibility into the RR Lot.  Please note, during the hours of 7 am to 5 pm, you may need to access the RR Lot by way of the Franklin Street entrance.

If it is more convenient, RR Lot subscribers may park in the West Broad Street Deck on October 30 while this work takes place.  Your hangtag permit and/or VCUCard will grant you access into this facility.


October 18 – RTD Deck Closed for Caulking Oct. 21 & 22

On Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22, the RTD Deck will be closed all day for caulking.  We ask that you remove your vehicle from the facility during these days. The deck will re-open on Monday, October 23.

October 18 – Duval Street Temporarily Closed Oct. 21   (8 am-2 pm)

Duval Street will be closed between the N Deck (top of the hill; will be unable to make a right onto Duval Street) and the entrance to the D Deck on this Saturday, October 21, from 8 am until 2 pm, due to construction. Both decks will still remain accessible; however, D Deck will only be accessible from the Marshall Street side, during these times.  Additionally, D Deck subscribers will be unable to turn right on Duval St. from the D Deck.

N Deck subscribers entering the facility from the direction of 9th Street can only access the deck from 10th and Duval Streets.  When leaving, N Deck subscribers may exit by turning left onto Duval or by using 10th St.


October 12 – Jefferson Street Deck Repair Project October 16-27

Crews will begin minor repair work on the Jefferson Street Deck between levels four and five, beginning on Monday, October 16.

During these repairs, the northwest stairwell will be closed to customer traffic between levels four and five. Additionally, a rolling block of 30 parking spaces between these two levels will be made unavailable for the duration of the project.

This repair work is projected to be completed by Friday, October 27.


October 11 – Update – Testing New R Lot Route Beginning Oct. 4

On October 2, we notified R Lot subscribers that we would test a new R Lot route through today, October 11.  Please be advised that in efforts to secure additional data, we are extending the testing period through Friday, October 13.  We will notify subscribers of any upcoming changes.

As a reminder, the M Lot route remains unaffected by this test.


October 2 – Testing New R Lot Route Beginning Oct. 4

In efforts to bypass the ongoing construction efforts and congestion on Broad and Fourteenth Streets, we will test a new R Lot route beginning on Wednesday, October 4.

The new route will entail traveling to Eighth Street, then Bank Street, and returning to Mayo Island at Fourteenth and Cary Streets.  We will continue to use Commerce Road for the trip to Sanger Hall.

This new route will be tested for a period of one week.  Please note, the M Lot route will not be impacted during this test.
