RamRide Service Changes – September 30, 2016

Beginning on Monday, October 3, the Campus Connector will begin to service a new stop, located at 3rd and Marshall Streets.  This new stop will provide the VCU community with easy access to the new VCU Police headquarters, located at 224 East Broad Street.  To service the new 3rd and Marshall bus stop, the Campus Connector will be rerouted.  As a result, the Coliseum Deck stop will only be serviced by the I Lot shuttles.

If you normally board the Campus Connector at the Coliseum Deck stop, please proceed to the Larrick Center stop for service, beginning on Monday.

As always, you can track the status of RamRide in real time via vcu.transloc.com or by downloading the VCU Mobile “RAMRIDE” app.

H Deck Re-striping 9/30-10/2 – September 27

Lanier Parking will be re-striping the entire H Deck from September 30, 2016 to October 2, 2016.  In order to perform the re-striping, the deck will be closed beginning at 6 pm on Friday, September 30, at which point all vehicles in the deck must be removed.  Any vehicles remaining in the deck beyond 6 pm on Friday, September 30 will be towed at the owner’s expense.  The deck will remain closed to all subscribers until the night of Sunday, October 2.

During the deck closure, Lanier will provide alternate parking for subscribers in the two lots located between 7th and 8th Streets and Franklin and Main Streets.  Both facilities have Lanier signage posted at the entrances advising “Permit Parking Only;” however, Lanier will be relaxing enforcement of these lots in order to accommodate your vehicle this weekend.

The alternate lots will be available for subscribers beginning at 6 pm on Friday, September 30 until 7 am on Monday, October 3 and can be accessed from Franklin Street, 8th Street, Main Street, or the alley running from 7th to 8th Streets (Traveler’s Alley).  The physical addresses for the two lots are 709 East Franklin Street and 728 East Main Street.  If you elect to park at these alternate locations, your vehicle must be removed by 7 am on Monday, October 3, 2016.

Please note, this project is weather permitting, with dates subject to change.  Parking will notify subscribers in the event of any changes.

A portion of these spaces will be re-opened for parking beginning on Thursday, October 6.

New D Deck Gate System – Update – September 15, 2016

Today’s parking operations went much smoother than yesterday, and we have our subscribers to thank!  We truly appreciate your adoption of our recommended tips for entering and exiting the D Deck, and hope that you found today’s commute far less hassle-free than yesterday.

Our subscribers’ efforts provided a direct impact on today’s success, as wait times were reduced considerably, ingress and egress were improved, and overall congestion was alleviated.  In addition to utilizing all deck access/entrance lanes and displaying just one RFID permit, we also noticed today that quite a few subscribers traveled southbound on 13th Street to access the facility, which made a great impact in reducing congestion!

As an added improvement, in the coming days, we will be installing traffic posts to help guide your travel through each access lane.

We could not have executed such a major project without the support of leadership and that of VCU Police.  They have been truly instrumental in making this implementation a reality, and for this, we are grateful.

Again, we thank our D Deck subscribers  for embracing this new parking system.  We remain committed to providing a far improved parking experience and look forward to further successes in the near future.

Alternate P Lot Parking – September 13, 2016

Due to the ongoing construction in the P Lot, the facility has become unsafe for subscriber parking.  While construction continues, subscribers may utilize the CHoR Pavilion self-park garage.  Subscribers will be provided with a temporary parking pass for this facility.   Please show this pass to the cashier upon leaving.

Subscribers may enter the parking garage from the 10th Street side of the CHoR building.  The first entrance, headed south, will be the valet entrance, and the second is the self-park entrance.  To access the ramp up to self-park, please drive through the pick-up/drop-off lane and turn left just prior to the exit onto 11th Street.  You may utilize P1, P2 or P3.  Please note, the CHoR garage operates from 6 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday.

D Deck Gates are Lowering Soon! – September 6, 2016

We are happy to report that lane acceptance testing was successful on the D Deck, and we will be proceeding with the launch of our new parking system!  On Wednesday, September 14 at 6 am, we will lower the new gates at this facility.

D Deck subscribers who have already received their new hangtag parking permits in the mail should destroy their existing adhesive permit and begin using the hangtag to enter and exit this facility.  As a reminder, beginning on September 14, VCUCards can be used as a secondary credential for access into the deck.

To ensure a smooth ingress to and egress from the D Deck once the gates are lowered, subscribers should be mindful of the following:

1) Your RFID hangtag permit should be hanging from your rear view mirror mount so that it is clearly visible and can easily activate the gates.

2) Any old VCU Parking permits must be removed from your vehicle and destroyed.  The RFID reader will attempt to read both permit signals if two permits are in close proximity to the reader, which will result in substantial delays.

3) In the event your RFID permit does not register within five seconds, try scanning your VCUCard as a secondary credential to enter and/or exit.

4) When approaching the gates, please do not exceed 5 miles per hour, as this may result in the reader not registering your RFID permit.

5) In the event you experience difficulty, and a team member is not available,  please press the “i” button, located on the entrance/exit lane verifiers to be connected to our command center directly.  This center is staffed by our enforcement team 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
During the launch period, Parking and Transportation team members will be on-site to provide assistance in the event subscribers experience difficulty with the new equipment.

D Deck Restoration – Update – September 3, 2016

The contractor will be performing concrete repair work on the top two levels of the D Deck next week.  Beginning at 11:45 pm on Friday, September 9, all parking spaces on Levels 6 and 7 will be closed.  Levels 1-5 will be re-opened for parking at this time.

Repairs on Level 6 are expected to be completed on Sunday, September 11 at 11:45 pm, at which time all spaces on this level will reopen.  Level 7 will not re-open until 7 am on Monday, September 19.

Handicap parking spaces from Levels 6 and 7 will be relocated to Level 5 during the course of the project.
