Both offices will resume their normal business hours on Thursday, September 8.

August 25, 2016 – M/R Lot Entrance & Exit Lanes

In efforts to improve the ingress to and egress from the M Lot during the week, we recently conducted a traffic study at this facility.  Based on the recommendations received, we will be re-configuring the entrance/exit lanes at this location.

Starting Monday, August 29, 2016, you will only be able to enter the M Lot by way of the southern access lane (closest to Southside).  Additionally, you will only be able to exit the M Lot by using the northern access lane (closest to downtown).

Directional signage will be posted and pavement markings will reflect these new changes.  Additionally, an enforcement officer will be onsite on Monday to assist with ingress and egress.

August 24, 2016 – D Deck Lane Testing 8/30 & 8/31

On Tuesday, August 30 and Wednesday, August 31, we will be conducting lane acceptance testing at the entrance/exit lanes of the D Deck from 9 am until 4 pm.  While traffic impacts should be minimal, we ask that subscribers are mindful of the crew when entering/exiting.

During testing, only one lane will be closed to customer traffic at a time.  An enforcement officer will also be on-site to assist with traffic, if necessary.  Please note, this testing is only temporary.  We will send additional notifications to subscribers prior to lowering the gates permanently on D Deck.

August 23, 2016 – New Employee Parking Permits

Over the past year, we have been working hard to transform VCU’s 20-year old parking system into one which offers greater modernity, convenience and security through easy access, flexible online management tools and improved validation options.  As part of this conversion, all subscribers received RFID adhesive permits for hands-free access into our facilities.

While we are still working to customize the system to best meet our unique needs here at VCU, we have heard your concerns, specifically regarding the viability of the adhesive permits. That is why, in the coming weeks, we will be transitioning all VCU employee parking permits to RFID hangtags. With this new permit, you can expect more accurate and faster read rates, improved enforcement throughout surface lots and increased flexibility when driving alternate vehicles.

This new hangtag permit will still provide hands-free access through RFID technology.  If you park in a lot, you will need to display your hangtag while parked in your location and when reciprocal parking in decks.  If you park in one of our leased facilities (i.e. W Deck, K Deck, Coliseum Deck, H Deck, RTD Deck, etc.), you will also display your new hangtag, and continue to use your existing access card for ingress/egress.

Your new employee permit will be arriving in the mail over the next few weeks. When you receive your hangtag, please destroy your old adhesive permit.  It is important that you position your hangtag on your rear view mirror mount so that it is clearly visible.  As a reminder, your VCUCard can also be used as a secondary credential for access into our gated facilities.

In the meantime, all employee subscribers should ensure that your mailing address and phone number are up to date in your VCU eServices/VCU Health Employee Self-Serve (ESS) profile so that your new permit is received in a timely manner and/or we can contact you in the event of any issues.
