News & information

July 1, 2016 –  New Parking Rates Effective July 1

Virginia Commonwealth University’s Board of Visitors recently approved a new budget for the upcoming 2016-17 fiscal year.  As part of this adopted budget plan, student and employee parking rates will increase by four percent.

The new parking permit rates will become effective on July 1, 2016.  You can view a full list of the updated rates here.

There is no action required for subscribers.  The new deductions will be applied on the August 1 payroll for VCU employee subscribers and on August 12 for VCUHealth subscribers.

July 7, 2016 – SF Deck Lease Ending

VCU Parking and Transportation’s lease will end at the SF Deck on Sunday, July 31, 2016.  Beginning on Monday, August 1, 2016, VCU parking permits will no longer be accepted at this facility.
If you are an SF Deck subscriber and would like to continue parking at the SF Deck after July 31, please contact Standard Parking directly to coordinate payment; however, you will need to return your current VCU parking permit to customer service so that we may process your cancellation.  If subscribers wish to continue parking through VCU, you are welcome to continue your subscription in one of our newly acquired facilities—R Lot or RTD Deck.

The R Lot, located at 508 South 14th Street, just over the 14th Street Bridge on Mayo Island, is open from 5am until 12am, Monday through Thursday, and from 5am-8pm on Fridays.  RamRide shuttle service is provided every ten to twenty minutes to transport subscribers to Sanger Hall.  Additionally, a traffic guard is on-site to assist subscribers with an easy ingress to and egress from the facility during peak periods.  The monthly rate for the R Lot is $52.00 ($26.00 per pay period).  If you would like to switch your parking location to the R Lot, please send an email to parking@vcu.edu with your name, current parking location and employee number, and a customer service representative will confirm your effective parking date.

Located at 300 East Franklin Street, the RTD Deck adjoins the Richmond Times Dispatch building in the heart of downtown.  This facility offers enhanced security, upgraded maintenance, proximate distance to the Franklin and Fourth Street transit stop, and is but a short 10-minute ride to Sanger Hall on the Campus Connector.  The deck is open to subscribers 24 hours per day, seven days a week.  The monthly rate for parking at the RTD Deck is $74.50 (or $37.25 per pay period).

SF Deck subscribers will be receiving a letter in the mail in the coming days with this information.  Enclosed in this letter will be a parking application for the RTD Deck should you be interested.  This form must be completed and returned by Friday, July 22, 2016, so that we may process your new subscription to this facility.

July 15, 2016 – WBSD Framework Painting Begins 7/18

Beginning on Monday, July 18, crews will be onsite to paint the exposed metal framework on the West Broad Street Deck.  Though parking will not be impacted, please be mindful of the crew while accessing this facility.

This project is expected to continue for three weeks.
