Students in NURS 661: Common Problems in Adult Primary Care, and NURS 634: Advanced Practice Childbearing Woman, have used  iPads to review patient cases and engage in other learning activities.  In this particular activity, students viewed 20 prescriptions on the iPad and worked in groups to determine if they would sign the prescriptions as written, refuse to sign or consider signing based on the receipt of additional information.  Student groups viewed the prescriptions one by one, then used the iPad to select and display their answers.  Answer choices were visual:  a pen if they chose to sign, a rubber stamp if they opted not to sign and a file folder if they preferred to consider.  This visual representation allowed the instructor to quickly assess student responses, and immediately address any questions or concerns related to that particular prescription.
