VCU’s medical librarians share knowledge with national network
During a library site visit from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Southeastern/Atlantic Region (NNLM SEA) office in 2018 Director Tony Nguyen and Executive Director M.J. Tooey met with librarians from Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences.
Site visits like this are common and allow VCU to showcase to the NNLM SEA the work the library is doing to support local and regional efforts by providing access to high-quality health information.
During the site visit, librarians provided overviews of activities in their expertise areas and shared recent success stories. These sharing sessions sparked interest and discussion with the NNLM SEA visitors who asked the VCU librarians if they would be willing to share their experiences more broadly with other librarians.
In response, librarians from VCU created one-hour webinars that were presented as part of the Beyond the SEA and SEASide webinar series. Webinars took place throughout 2019 and recordings are available. Presenters, titles, brief descriptions, attendance numbers, and links to recordings are below.
