Looking to incorporate peer review and optimize feedback among students in your course? Check out Peerceptiv, a VCU-supported tool that integrates seamlessly into Canvas for both instructors and students. Peerceptiv promotes collaborative learning through peer review assignments, live group presentations, team member evaluations, and individual presentations.

To help you get started, LEDstudio has created a wide range of resources and guides to support integrating Peerceptiv into your course. It’s also highly recommended to watch the Introduction to Peerceptiv for Instructors video when beginning.

New Features in Peerceptiv

  • Group Formation Assignment
Peerceptiv now offers a new assignment type called Group Formation. This feature allows students to complete a customizable survey by a set deadline, and groups are automatically created based on their responses. Instructors can adjust the questions and criteria to meet their course needs and still have the flexibility to edit or reassign groups after they are generated. Check out this step-by-step guide to setting up Group Formation in Canvas.
  • Enhanced Peer Assessment Grading
Instructors using the Peer Assessment assignment type now have access to faster, more efficient grading. With a “speed grader” approach, instructors can provide comments directly on submissions while grading, as well as instantly grade student review comments. A win–win for everyone!
  • Improved Live Presentation Features
For Live Presentation assignments, students can now leave and edit reviews in real time. Instructors can also submit on behalf of students when needed and allow students to view their live presentation reviews before the final results are released.

Support and Resources

As a reminder, LEDstudio Instructional Designers are always happy to help during Open Office Hours, held on Zoom every Tuesday and Wednesday from 12–2 p.m to answer any Peerceptiv questions. There is also a Peerceptiv Knowledge Base available for both instructors and students. Happy learning!
