Learning Systems has been monitoring and researching the news surrounding the depreciation of NPAPI (architecture used by many browsers). We wanted to make you aware of this upcoming change in the event it does cause compatibility and functionality issues with any of the systems (Blackboard, LonCapa and Echo360) supported by Learning Systems.
Summary of issue:
In September 2015, Google plans to permanently remove NPAPI from its Chrome browsers, meaning that any installed browser extensions that require NPAPI plugins will no longer work. There has been information circulating that other browsers such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc. will also be removing NPAPI, but we have not heard a definitive timeline for any other browsers yet.
Learning Systems will continue to work with the appropriate vendors to determine what browser(s) are recommended, and will provide more information as it becomes available.
