The Feminist Social Theory class (GSWS 301) dedicated its semester-long social action project to the topic of mass incarceration. This project involved working with Health Brigade and access to the Chesterfield Women’s Diversion Center to have a workshop day with women incarcerated there.  The workshop, “A Creative Visionary Perspective of What Community Support Could Look Like to Prevent Incarceration,” asked the women  questions about health and the prison system, and then asked them to create artwork or poetry based on their experiences. The student creative team then curated the prisoners’ work and put together visual art pieces that will be displayed on the Cabell Screen and during an event at The Amphitheater Plaza May 1 from 12:30 – 3:00 p.m.
