Sirena Pearl explores contemporary topics with painting and printmaking
Showing through January
Sirena Pearl is a self-taught artist who draws and paints. Her work has explored contemporary topics that include self-identity, climate change, vanity, mental health, and technological addictions in a digital age.
Her passion for art was encouraged by her mother (a graphic designer) and father at a young age. In 2018 Pearl submitted artwork through her high school to the Scholastic Art and Writing contest. Her color pencil self-portrait “Shower” received the National / American Vision award and a Gold Medal. Scholastics exhibited the piece, starting at Parsons School of Design, in a traveling display across the country from 2018 to 2020. After graduating high school, she decided to develop her business and art skills by working on projects and displaying her art in local DMV exhibitions.
Pearl is currently pursuing a bachelors in Painting and Printmaking from VCUarts and is Artist-in-residence at the restaurant Palette 22.
